Third Party Bodily Injury [TPBI]

Legal Liability for Accidents Occurring at Your Home

It is possible that visitors to your home could be injured due to some defects in your building or an accident involving the contents. For example, a visitor to your home could fall down because of the slippery floor in your kitchen and hurt his back.

Depending on the nature of the accident, you could be sued either as the owner or occupier of the house. This cover which is automatically available to you under Section IIIB, aims to help you pay compensation to such a third party should you be held legally liable for accidents to third parties occurring in your home.

A third party can be anyone other than yourself, members of your family or household or anyone employed by you.

In addition to paying whatever you are legally liable to pay (including claimant's costs), the policy will also cover your defence costs, if these are incurred, with your insurer's consent.

The cover provided under this section is, however, limited to RM50,000. This limit may be increased, if you want to, for a modest additional premium.
