an ex-colleague of mine who was a bankrupt had all of his bank accounts frozen, except for his BSN savings a/c which he used to cash his salary. wonder why BSN is exempt from being frozen?

may be because BSN was not a commercial bank like the rest? If this is true then it would be good news..

Yasmin,

No harm trying out BSN. A few other banks also don't freeze bankrupt's accounts.
Just put in RM 1K-2K and keep using the account.

Keep the rest in Safe Deposit box to be safe.

I just give little explanation, how the bank account can block by bank or any financial institution inclusive PNB or cooperation (koperasi)even other related parties like stock brokerage firm.

Everything is based on INFORMATION supply by JIM. For commercial or any financial institution under BAFIA, they will received bankrupts status report every month (end month) I dont know which time of report currently, but before they receive by paper report. Now dont know either by online transcation or not, but i dont think so.

So once the bank receive this report, the HQ will distribute each branch based on region to check the client a/c status respectively. Let say that officer / staff overlook your name, may be this month u are lucky, but until when u are still luck....
