For those on the "Run" from credit cards debts only, with no forwarding address to receive Bankruptcy Notices.

You may have been made a bankrupt without knowing.

In theory, bankrupts are ban from travelling overseas. Exceptions for those reporting to Jabatan Insolvensi Malaysia (JIM) who has applied for temporary travelling overseas to work from Director General of Insolvency (DGI).

What you mean by "Not 100% accurate"? You got info that the online system is not perfect? If yes, please share.

You also can check bankruptcy status online and pay RM12 to https://www.myeg.com.my/. If you don't have a credit card or bank account / internet banking, try to ask your family members or friends with internet banking to help you get the said document from MYEG. Nowadays, anybody can do a check on anyone if they have their NRIC number new and old and also full name.

The above immigration status "bar" can also for tax evaders, PTPTN defaulters, overstaying in other countries, people under "sedition act" offences, penal code offenders.. maybe others more. For confirmed bankrupts should be accurate if they have updated the database.

How accurate is this check?

The immigration link is not update at all, I am already a bankrupt, surrendered myself to the Insolvency Department, still the status I get when I check is "sah pada waktu dan semakan dibuat". Does that mean I can travel overseas? LOL.

When was your date of bankrupted?
When did you report in to Jabatan Insolvensi Malaysia (JIM)?
Did you type your IC (K/P) number in correctly?
Is the K/P number stated in your bankruptcy papers accurate?

Yes can travel overseas but only for certain excuses... like can bankrupt travel for holidays?

The immigration link is not update at all because just check and everything still same. "Tiada halangan. Sah pada waktu dan tarikh semakan dibuat." (I just did it today)

Report to JIM: Also in September 2015 because my account was blocked so I need to release it for my salary credited.

Yes, I type my K/P correctly. Unless you mean I have to insert this symbol (-) to my IC number, but it won't accept others than number right?

I do understand that they need 6 month to update their database, but I am already a year in my bankruptcy still the status say "tiada halangan". Maybe they need another year to update?

Try 000000000000 try your friends K/P no. but change some digits. The answer is the same "Tiada Halangan". If your K/P was not accurately entered into the immigration database, well, that's your luck.

Enjoy your new found freedom. The bankruptcy law is clear-cut on travelling overseas unless with the permission from Jabatan Insolvensi Malaysia. Even if there is an error in Immigration, if you have traveled and be "caught", you have broken bankruptcy law. The COULD BE PENALTIES and for sure your case management period of 5 years will be extended. The other alternative is to pay all the Proof of Debt creditors and be discharged.

Not accurate, once Jabatan Insolvensi Malaysia receives your Receiving Order (RO) or Adjudication Order (AO) papers, they will update both Bank Negara Malaysia and Jabatan Imigresen Malaysia at the same time via official letters or even by now, electronically, with the high possibility of Employees Provident Fund (EPF) too. This will take 2-4 weeks.

Question:
Are you in possession of a valid or expired Malaysian Passport at date of bankruptcy?

My passport still valid.. anyway, still afraid to go travel overseas... I think I might be stopped at the Imigresen counter at the airport..hahahaha

You said it will takes 2 -4 weeks to update? Wow, but a year later I still got that "tiada halangan" status.

How sure are you that Jabatan Insolvensi Malaysia (JIM) notify Employees Provident Fund (EPF)?  Also, what is the status of EPF money if you're bankrupt? If withdraw EPF at age 55, how to get money when bankrupt can't have bank account?
