I've been blacklisted for 4-5 years. Now I have no bank account.

Can I withdraw my Employees Provident Fund (EPF) savings when I'm age 55? Please give me valuable advices. Thanks

Pretend to be ignorant or 'buat bodoh' and try to see a officer. I did that 8 years ago and got a cheque that can be cashed out. Alternatively try to open a bank joint account with a bank you have not been blacklisted. Unless you have been blacklisted by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). Try Bank Simpanan, foreign banks, Bank of China? In the application form, do not write your name first!

If you can't even open a joint account, then post again here. There is a more risky method. Better to have a proper joint account in banks.

@sad woman
Did you make a first withdrawal at the age of 50?

@george
1. Your debts: Any creditors taking up the next step of bankruptcy proceedings (min RM30k to proceed)?
2. Your EPF withdrawal at the age of 50 or 55?
3. Are any of the garnished accounts joint name savings accounts?

My @50 withdrawal in 2006, was given bearer cash cheque, as I was able to convince the EPF (supervisor) officer that I do not have a bank account and I have 4 school going kids (whom are all nominees in EPF with ages in their systems). And of course needed the monies urgently for living expenses. They can check on their systems that I am not a bankrupt. Nowadays even easier, check immigration status to verify bankruptcy status.

One point of interest is that I applied at Jalan Laut HQ and signed on the form stating that I'll collect my cheque at HQ. But when the approval letter came, I had to collect at the Petaling Jaya (PJ) branch. COULD means that EPF can issue "cash cheque" and they may have to process such requests at another unit based in PJ. It depends on the senior officer in charge at that day. Maybe it was just my luck on that withdrawal application day. The officer processing it went blur when I told her "tiada bank account, sekarang tiada wang untuk anak makan, tiada kerja, tiada bini. Tolong tunjuk cara lain." She asked her supervisor to help attend to me at the counter.

Anyway, subsequently I managed to open a joint savings account with my daughter in a bank whom I did not have any credit cards debts.

Another point of interest is that my daughter had her own savings account in that bank (same branch), and the new joint application was done in under 30 minutes complete with ATM card. What I noticed is that when I withdraw from any banks ATM machine, my daughter name only appears. So that is why I advise putting your name last in the application. Maybe their verification is only done on the first name on the joint account in banks.

Hope all the above info helps.

@Jeff

Got debts beyond RM30k. Summons issued. Judgement obtained for most debts. Bankruptcy proceedings not yet started.

Withdrawing at age 55.

So far one bank threatened garnishment. No joint names account.

I already withdrawn at the age 50 but I was not blacklist at that time. Can now request EPF Department to issue cheque? Joint account, I don't think it will work. Bank Negara Malaysia sure already send blacklist record to all banks in Malaysia.

@george
"Threatened garnishment" only work of bill collectors. If it is the bank's lawyers, you will only know of the garnishment when you try to withdraw monies. Go open a joint savings account like what I had described. Go bank to bank till you get one. Leave some monies there, bank in some monies and leave it there. When you get your EPF cheque, test the account first by withdrawing almost all the monies. If successful, then only bank in the EPF cheque. 2 days later, go early to the bank, cash it out and run fast fast.

Try and try, didn't try means definitely cannot. I was equally pessimistic 2 months ago till a "vkpc" commented on my posting. I woke up and I am a more knowledgeable person now. Had he been outstation and by pass my posting, I wouldn't be in this forum anymore. I would have classified my case as no hope gone case!

Listen to vkpc, he gives very accurate advice and comments. It is because of his comments that I am who I am today now, happier and with ease with my status. I am not trying to curry favor him, we never met before, although I like his curry mee recipe very much.

Hi sifu (if you don't mind me addressing you as such),

For your information, EPF Board needs photostats copy of your bank account. They will bank in once approved. They surely will not issue cheque to you. So, what to do?

@sad woman

It is NONSENSE!

Don't listen to fishmongers, I just withdrew from EPF last month. The officer asked me to give them the bank account number. I told her, "Didn't bring, joint account with my daughter and she keeps all records and she is in Singapore now." She said, "Okay, I give you bank cheque." I requested for bank cash cheque and she said okay. But when I received the cheque, it was account payee! Never mind, I still got the money. The officer says direct bank in to your account, 3 days, cheque can only be ready in 7 working days.

Maybe if it is the first time you withdraw @50, they may ask for more doc evidence. Last month was my 4th withdrawal. I presented myself as a very old man, no front teeth, 90% grey hair, with starry starry eyes, do I look as a fraudster? Of course the standard questions are asked, When was your last few withdrawals? You married? You have nominees? She added, "Uncle you can withdraw every month after age 55."

Please don't listen to rumours and misconceptions. I did! and I HAD made my own life miserable!

Can I tell the EPF officer that I am blacklisted. And may be a bankrupt and have no bank account? No lies but truth. Will it be OK?
