Need Advice and Info!!!

New MessageBankruptcy (modified 0 times) InADilemma
OK! I'll be very straight forward and honest. I left Malaysia in 1999 and is still living in US right now. I have not been back to Malaysia since but intend to soon. I left with CC bills and a car loan, maybe totaling about 35-40K. What happened next was they started sending letters/notices for quite awhile and my parents keep sending them back unopened and informing them that this person no longer live here. One day they just stop sending.

In the mean time in US, I have no problem renewing my passport. So far I already renewed it 3 times without any trouble at all. The last time being August 2007.

Fast forward to 2008, now I contemplating of going home for a visit, so I asked a friend to check online through Jabatan Insolvensi and found out I am a bankrupt. I thought I was off the hook for my debts, how naive and stupid I was and just because the bank (Sime Bank) and finance company (Mbf Finance) no longer exist I thought they wrote off the debts. How silly is that???

Need advice on these :

1)Can they declare me bankrupt without me being there?
2)If I go back, can I leave Malaysia again?
3)How to find out who took action on me and how much do I owe?
4)If I want to settle, how to go about doing it, can get discount or not?
5)Can I do it from here?

These are some of the questions that I need some answers and would appreciate some advice from anyone.

I had a massive problem with banks and with my creditors in Malaysia. I left in a hurry because the bank and another lender decided to move against me although I was trying to sort out my problems with the help of a Chartered Accountant. I could have resolved my financial problems in an orderly manner had it not been for an ex who worked with the bank who decided they would exercise their rights against me if you know what I mean.
I contacted a lawyer in Australia who has excellent knowledge of bankruptcy and insolvency. he is actually a former Malaysian doing exceptionally well in Australia. I promised him I would pass on his details to others because of the extremely competent way in which he handled my bankruptcy. I am now releived. But I won't be returning to Malaysi for a while.

Our chelup lawyers only charge lot of money but don't provide any service where they must think. They only go by the book.

If you need help ask him:

his website is:http://www.lawcomex.com

Let him know please I sent you.
