Practising in Malaysia

New MessagePractising in Malaysia (modified 0 times) Michael
I hold law degrees from the UK and Australia and have completed the admission requirements for practice in Australia with the Post Graduate in Legal Practice. I have never practised in Malaysia although I have extensive experience in Taxation, Corporations and Commercial and Administrative Law based on my qualificaitons and my work experience.

What would be the requirement if I wish to set up my own consultancy in Malaysia dealing with Commercial Advice, General Tax Planning, Corporations Law for companies listed and privatised, Takeovers and Mergers and Financing issues both domestic and international??

As a general rule I have shied away from making appearances and do not intend to do so in Malaysia. Is there any specific requirement for me to meet to be able to come to Malaysia and be self employed??

I am Malaysian born but have taken up foreign citizenship and lived abroad for more than 20 years.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Malaysia welcomes her returning "prodigal sons" and if you have the expertise that you claim, gettting a pr here would not be a hassle. Do look up the malaysian immigration website for assistance and info. And if you do not intend to practise you do not have to be clled to the Bar. Register a company and carry on with life.

Thank you judgemenot. I do not have the qualificatins and expertise as I have presented it in my question. I have a lot more but chose not to decorate the site with it when asking a simple question. But thats not the issue. I really appreciate your input and direction. I will look it up and use it as a means of broadening my horizons. I really look forward to spending a lot more time abroad and Malaysia is a choice destination for me.

Thank you once again.
