 | Child Surname (modified 0 times) | Step granny | |
| Hi, Need advice on below.
My daughter divorced and hv custody of her son when the child is 1 year old. (7 years ago). This child do not meet his father or his family since then.
My daughter re-married 2 years ago and his son can get along well with her current husband.
So if we want to change the surname of the child to be same as her current husband, how do we go about.
Do her current husband did to register for adoption or is automatically hv right to change the child surname.
Thanks | |

| The new husband can adopt the child, hence replacing the birthcert with his name as the father and change the surname as well. BUt with consent of the biological father unless he could not be located. | |

| A copy of the application must be served or sent to the father of the child/her ex husband. As long as she has taken steps to inform him, it should be fine. As for his accusation about not letting him see the son, is there any truth in it? If there isn't shouldn't be any problem. | |

| is there truth? i dont understand . Let's say the mother purposely move to other area so that the father dont get t find them + he got no intention to waste much time on it , thats why maybe after years they dont bother each other , then he find out that his son's surname changed . i might will have the similiar situation ,because my son biological father dont look for him after we moved. i wan to make sure , perhaps 1 day i will get marry again . | |
