 | Single Malaysian mum, child born in the UK (modified 0 times) | Anne | |
When my child is born in the UK, I was a student in the UK -I am still is, - and his father is British citizen, we are NOT planning to get marry. Currently, we are still in the UK- but we live separately-, the child's father supports the financial needs and occasionally comes and visits my child.
The questions are:
When my study finish, can I bring my child back to Malaysia and apply for Malaysian birth certificate/ID, will there be a problem for my child to study and work in Malaysia like others citizens? Is he Malaysian citizenship? | |

| Is your child British citizen?
But as a mother you have custody of the child I assume, more so you're a single mother? You can bring your child back, and he can even study here, etc without the need of renouncing his citizenship. There may be a visa issue, that I am not sure. Moreover getting a Malaysian citizenship is very hard. Do reconsider your decision.
