Laws concerning date of returning security deposit
Security deposit, how long?

New MessageLaws concerning date of returning security deposit (modified 0 times) tigerinmalaysia
At the end of June, our rental agreement expired and the new owner told us to leave by July 30th. We did not pay rent to anyone for July, and it was understood by us and the new owner that the rent should come out of the deposit, which was passed from the old owner to the new.

It is now the end of August and we have not receieved our deposit back, in fact they are avoiding the issue. Eight weeks after the agreement is finished, we should be able to get our deposit, right? Are there any laws that tell what is the due date to pass back the deposit after the end of an agreement? I have no doubt they will give it to us eventually (it is a reputable company that is the new owner), but I think they are delaying and playing with us cause we are students.

Any advice?
