Crack Defects of House during DLP - What are the Owner's Rights?

Dear all,


The front half portion of my new house has cracks of sizes that range from 2 – 5mm wide. The cracks appear both at the Ground and 1st floor. These are live cracks as their sizes and new location are visibly increasing every other month.

I took vacant possession of the house in June 2008. Completion of building and civil works is some time in March 2008

Piling completed some time in June 2007.

I was told that my house sits on an area where it was previously a swamp. The earth fill was already there when I visited the site at the time of signing SPA which is in August 2006.

A) As I am put off by thinking of the treacherous and impending danger the house may posed to my family should I move it, please advise on the things I should do so that developer/ architect/engineer go through the due process of

1. identify the causes of these defects
2. eliminate the causes
3. carry out suitable repairing works based on the real cause of these defect and prevent future occurrence.

Presently the developer is merely doing their bare minimum of repairing which is not enough as the crack will re-appear and by the time DLP lapse nothing is rectified.

I Also without professional advice on the safety of my house and what are the treacherous and impending danger , I

C) What can legal representation do for me?
