Dear All,
My mum has done a bypass operation, and the total cost was 40K, and the operation cost itself cost 12k, however i only able to claim back 9k from the 12k of operation cost.
The reason given was, "the doctor charges was too high, normal charges for such operation is 6k" . and under the "MAA code" ,the insurance company have the right not to pay back the claim.
however, according to the hospital, the charges is very normal for such a big operation, thus they cant give any discount on that.
The insurance bought 6 yrs ago, and the insurance coverage is "as -charge" with not exceed 60k per sickness. mean provided it do not exceed 60k, and it is fully covered.
my question is,
1. what is MAA code?
2. if the insrurance quote the "MAA code", is that mean that consumer dont hv the right to claim back? because in this case , the ppl who suffer is the consumer.
3. The problem is from hospital or the insurance company?
Would greatly appreciate your comments.
Many Thanks
Warmest regards,
melody wong
