If a person bought a whole life premium 20 years ago and during that time he appointed one of his sibling to be the beneficiary. Recently, he just married for one week and then passaway. My question is whether his spouse is entitled to claim the benefit since the beneficiary had not been change from the date he bought the insurance. Thanks for reply

The wife can write to insurance company to request freeze payment and proceed with proof of marriage and rightfully claim the money with proof of relationship. An automatic trust was created from a legal marriage which may supercede previous nominations for life insurance policies. Unless the previous policy has created a trust/absolute assignment in favour of the siblings of prevoius nominations/beneficiaries.
