HI peeps;

I got a situation here. Afriend sold a property back in 2004 and paid some arrears of the taksiran to the PBT. After that there were communications that indicated the same PBT has acknowledge receipt of the paymenets and that they shall be collecting payment from the new buyer of the said property.

Now after almost 6 years, they came back to haunt my friend telling him that he still has outstandings. He was shocked that he still receive taksiran notice after so long and wonder why the PBT did not chase the new buyer. The answer given by the PBT is that my friend did not give notice or file Borang I to inform them the said changes. ANy way we can defeat this?..otherwise this will open floodgates for PBT to simply tax you even after the properties does not belong to you anymore...tq and Cheers!

maybe your friend should gather all the necessary supporting documentation proving his innocence. however, nothing is really going to happen unless your friend threatens the authorities with something ie suing them, bringing the law down on them, threaten to go public with it or something. tell them what is demanded. you want some form of compensation, you want them to make changes? you want a public apology? you want them to amend their ways ? what? decide what is it you want to do. Being right is one thing, but if you do not impose the rights on them, nothing will happen. then now, you'd have a dispute. give them a deadline to come back to you. if they do not comply, then find a very good lawyer to fight it out in court. make them bleed. but be prepared to pay loads of money. good lawyers do not come cheap. but then again you have another alternative. use mediation and settle your dispute out of court. contact mediationmalaysia@gmail.com or contact 0146417833 and ask for free advice. mediation is an alternative dispute resolution and it is really, cheaper, impartial and most of all the authorities will like it as it is really a very secretive procedure.
