Majlis Daerah Serian (MDS) 
Also known as the Serian District Council in English. Established in 1959 under the Local Authority Ordinance 1948 as the Upper Sadong District Council. The Council was renamed the Serian District Council in 1985 in conjunction with the reorganisation of the Local Authorities on October 21, 1981. The Serian District Council has the jurisdiction over all the area presiding over the Serian district. As a local authority of the area, Serian District Council is playing a major role in providing services pertaining to infrastructure development, municipality services and management, public health management, facilities management and enforcement of regulatory measures.
