Change to Singapore citizenship, Housing property in Malaysia

I was born in Malaysia 1965 and have one terrace house under my name. I will complete the housing loan payment in year 2008. Many years working and holding Singapore Permanent Residence (PR). Recently apply for Singapore citizenship.

Will my terrace house in Malaysia remain as my asset once I renounce my Malaysia citizenship? Because Singapore cannot accept Duo citizenship.

Singapore citizenship does not affect your rights to own properties anywhere in this world.

Citizenship and Personal Wealth are entirely two different matters.

Nobody in this world has the right to take away your wealth and properties.

Do I need to look for a lawyer to change my new Singaporean Identity No. to keep my housing property under my name?

It is advisable to keep "Certified True Copy" of all your personal "Malaysian Identification Documents" like: your Malaysian Identity Card, Malaysian Passport, Malaysian Driver's Licence and any others, by a legally recognized "Statutory Declaration" body for your future identification purpose and to avoid unnecessary problems.

You can write a letter to inform the Department Concerned, with "Certified True Copy" of your Malaysian Identification Document plus your New Singaporean Identification Document and get "Acknowledge Receipt" of your letter.

From there on, the Department will tell you all other procedures and requirements to get your property safely kept under your name.

I have a Malaysia G.E insurance. May I know will it affected the policy? Should I continue or discontinue? What are the action should I take if I change citizenship to Singaporean?

You need to write and inform the Insurance Co. officially about your change of citizenship by providing your identity and status with all supporting documents; to prove that you are the same person who is only changing citizenship.

The Insurance Co. will also advise you the proper procedures.

Make sure that you get everything done OFFICIALLY in Black and White, in order to prevent unforeseen problems in future for your Beneficiaries.

Few years back I bought a shop houses under my name and the property is still under the loan payment. I am currently holding a PR and thinking to apply for Singapore citizenship.

As I was previously told that no foreigner are not allow to hold a commercial property in Malaysia. If this the case, will my shophouses in Malaysia remain as my asset once I renounce my Malaysia citizenship? Is that a compulsory for me to sell the shop houses? Or worse come to worst, is there any compulsory period that I have to sell the property after I obtained the Singapore citizenship? I really wish to retain this property.

I inherited some properties about ten years ago including shop houses and a piece of unused land. I would like to know whether there are any tax implications now (on rental and property tax) and in future (when I sell the properties as a foreigner) after I convert to a Singaporean.
