I am a Marchant Navy Officer (Working onboard commercial ships) working with Malaysia's largest/leading shipping corporation for the last 3 years. The nature of my job is-my company assigns me to a ship for 6 months and send me for leave for 2 months and this is a continuing process. So everytime I come to KL airport without any visa from my country. At the airport (KLIA) my company representetive receives me with the assignment letter to the ship.So on the spot I am given transit visa  for 7 days to join the ship which is usually in any malaysian port.Within these 7 days I report to my head office in KL and join the ship with a 'KELUAR'(exit) chop. When my assignment is complete after 6 months, the local immigration office gives me a 'special pass' to remain in malaysia untill my flight date and I fly out of malaysia and go back to my country with a 'KELUAR' chop. After 2 months of holidays I come back for the next assignment in the same way.

Last year I got married in malaysia and my wife is a malaysian citizen.Definitely I dont want to go back to my country and come back for the assignment twice a year.Means I want to stay in malaysia, join ship from malaysia and after completion of my assignment I want to stay back in Malaysia. So I applied under the spouse programme. My company provided all the necessary papers the immigration asked for.But the immigration people dont seem to understand the situation of a Mariner and they all looked very confused. As though they did not know what to do with my case ! Anyway they granted me 'TEMPORARY EMPLOYMENT PASS' under Immigration reg 1963 REG.11(10) for 1 year and told me that it can be renewed every year and after 5 years like this I can apply for the PR.I went to damansara immigration office with my wife who speaks BM several times but I think none of them clearly understood my situation and nobody could give me any clear answer.I am afraid thay gave me a wrong type of VISA which will expire immidiately I will get the 'KELUAR' chop even though it is valid for 1 year. Can anybody give me any idea what to do and what is suitable for my case?

You should not be too excited to get other "Pass" at this moment.

Just stay calm. You can get renewal easily every year.
